On 11 June at the Stayner Community Centre, Todd Patton was inducted into the Clearview Hall of Fame for "Community Volunteer Award" presented by Mayor Doug Measures.
Todd spent countless hours planning a
practice curriculum, worked with the players to improve on their basic
fundamentals. He arranged exhibition games, took the group to two tournaments
which fostered team camaraderie and brought them together that set them up for
success. NLMBA inaugural season, U9 Select Team finished in the top four of the
YSBA play downs that made them eligible for the OBA’s in Sault Ste. Marie over
the Labour Day weekend. The team had a successful weekend going two wins and
two losses, gaining a tremendous amount of experience both in baseball and life
skills. Todd sought out information as the Dedicated Select Loop was new to the
NLMBA which proven to be successful due to his efforts. He represented the
community in a positive manner through his dedication, respect for others, teaching
the players both baseball and social skills while employing professionalism. Tireless
efforts, he brought coaches, manager and players together as a cohesive team,
resulting in his Select Team being awarded the YSBA Select Team of the Year
Award. Spearheaded the coordination, taking on the role of Convenor, NLMBA
hosted the YSBA Qualifier for U11 Select that consisted of 13 teams which had
great success.
Todd identified the need for another
set of jerseys for the Select Team, the old jersey’s getting tired and had been
worn more than twenty five years. Todd, not just focused on the Select Teams
but for the entire organization, he set out to find sponsors and was successful
in finding enough sponsors so that all the players within the NLMBA would have
new jerseys. Volunteered in the fall during the recent Annual General Meeting
to be the 2nd Vice President and Rep/Select Coordinator.
Todd positively represented the
community in an exemplary manner, resulting in the association receiving
respectful feedback from other centres regarding his overall deportment. He had
to strike an organizational balance between work, playing baseball for the
Senior Knights, family commitments and dedicating time to the team. His
commitment to the team, players and the Association was admirable making him a
deserving candidate to be nominated for the “Community Volunteer Award”.
